Sandoval Lake Lodge has twenty-five fully-screened double rooms with private hot water showers and toilets and a dining hall with a panoramic view of the lake ( SANDOVAL LAKE). There is also electricity available in the early morning before sunrise and evenings after sunset supplemented by kerosene lamps and candles. Electronic devices can be recharged from our generator, but please note that guests may need to bring a special adapter to plug into the generator

DAY 1: Sandoval Lake Lodge.
Upon arrival to Puerto Maldonado we will take you to the lodge's office to store your extra luggage. Then you will ride on a motor-boat for 25 minutes to a riverside trailhead. From there you will hike 3.2 Kms (2 miles) to Lake Sandoval. Once there, you will ride on a canoe to the lodge's pier. After settle in the lodge, you will explore the west end of Lake Sandoval to watch a bunch of red-bellies macaws. After dinner, on a canoe you will search the river shores for black caimans.
Optional night walk (to see insects, frogs, snakes etc.).

DAY 2: Sandoval Lake Lodge.
Early in the morning you will return to the lake to look for the giant river otters and the Hoatzins (pre-historic looking birds). Later, you will learn how the native people collect and commercialize the Brazilian nut. After lunch we will return to the lake to watch more species of monkeys that lives in the forest near the lake such as the Brown Capuchin monkey and the Squirrel monkey.
Optional night walk (to see insects, frogs, snakes etc.).

DAY 3: Sandoval Lake Lodge.
After breakfast you will ride on a canoe to the other shore of the Sandoval lake, then you will hike to the Madre de Dios river. From there you will ride on a motor-boat back to Puerto Maldonado.
Afterwards our personnel will accompany you to the airport or the bus station wishing that your stay was as pleasant for you as it was for us to show you this beautiful place of Peru.

Important notes:
Please note that the program may vary slightly so as to maximize your wildlife sightings, depending on the reports of our researchers and experienced naturalist guides based at the lodge.
